Additional Information
Keia’s Offerings
Keia has been given the title Tabaquera by her elders, this means she is a woman who works with and walks with tobacco. Keia grows Aztec Tobacco, which is specifically worked with for ceremony and healing. A sacred, and ancient plant that has a rich history, tobacco has been used since time immemorial in Central and South America. Keia will be knowledge sharing and giving traditional tobacco cleansings before the yoga nidra practice.
Keia first learned the practice of yoga nidra while working at her friend’s yoga studio in Milwaukee, WI. During her RYT-300 training in India, she was given more in-depth teachings surrounding yoga nidra. This practice was first recorded in the Upanishads which dates as far back as 600 BCE. During yoga nidra research, it was found that the parasympathetic nervous system (rest, relax, digest) is activated, and our sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight mode) is able to deactivate. Keia will always honor and respect the yogic and ayurvedic traditions she learned, as they opened the doorway back to the healing practices of her own Indigenous & Chicana lineages.
Lisa’s Offerings
Lisa has a passion for supporting felt sense of safety and connection in all services she provides. Lisa plans to offer psychoeducation and guided meditations and somatic movement exercises on the land and with her horses, donkeys, and goats! Lisa’s specialized training in EMDR allows her to offer guided somatic and experiential exercises to connect in co-regulation and felt safety with our nervous system and support integration and secure attachment. This supports the release portion of the retreat.
Lisa also plans to provided psychoeducation and support regarding secure attachment practices through her equine-assisted therapy training with Natural Lifemanship, utilizing the principles of pressure to make requests for our needs for ourselves and within relationship with others, including the animals! This supports the receiving portion of the retreat.
